Quick answer

Digital printing is a modern technique that applies colour directly to fabric or an item in full colour - much like an office printer, but on fabric. It is suited to photorealistic logos, colour gradients and smaller runs where screen printing would not be economical. The result has sharp details and vivid colours; we prepare a free graphic design and a price quote within 1 hour.

How it works

How does digital printing on fabric work?

From the design to the finished printed piece. We manage the entire process for you - you just approve the visualisation.

  1. 1 Graphic design We prepare and position the logo or design on the product in a digital layout for your approval. We produce only after your sign-off.
  2. 2 Printing directly onto the material A specialist textile printer applies micro-droplets of colour directly onto the fabric in full colour, with sharp detail.
  3. 3 Fixing and quality check We heat-fix the print so it withstands washing and abrasion, and inspect every piece before dispatch.
Advantages and limitations

When does digital printing pay off?

It excels with colourful designs and small runs. To help you decide correctly, we will also tell you when another technique is better.

Full-colour and photorealistic designsNo limit on the number of colours and with subtle gradients - accurate reproduction of a logo or photograph.
Suitable for small runs tooEconomical even for low quantities and single pieces - no need to prepare screens as with screen printing.
Sharp details and vivid coloursSmall text, shadows and colour gradients remain legible and vibrant.
More eco-friendly choiceLower water consumption and less waste compared to traditional printing methods.

Things to bear in mind

For large runsFor high quantities screen printing is usually more cost-effective per piece - we will recommend it in that case.
On heavily dark fabricSome shades may be slightly less vivid than with techniques specialised for dark fabric.

Technique comparison

When to choose a different technique?

Digital printing is not always the best choice. Depending on the material, design and quantity, another technique may be more suitable:

Screen printingLarge runs of simpler logos - lowest cost per piece and very vivid colours.
Sublimation printingLight polyester and sportswear - colour permanently in the fibre, never fades.
EmbroideryPremium look and durability - hoodies, polo shirts, caps, towels.
Transfer printDetailed colourful designs on dark fabric and irregular surfaces.

An overview of all techniques can be found in the services section. Not sure which to choose? We will advise you based on your product and logo.

Frequently asked questions about digital printing

What it is, how it works, advantages, which products it suits and the difference from screen printing.

Digital printing (DTG) applies colour directly to fabric in full colour - it works much like an office printer, but prints on fabric instead of paper. It produces vibrant, detailed and durable designs on t-shirts, hoodies and other garments.

First we prepare a digital design and position the logo on the product. After approval, a textile printer applies micro-droplets of colour directly onto the fabric, and we heat-fix the print so it withstands washing and abrasion. The result is an accurate reproduction of the design with sharp detail.

Full-colour and photorealistic designs with no colour limit, suitability for small runs and single pieces, sharp details, vivid colours and a more eco-friendly process (less water and waste) than conventional methods.

Mainly light and cotton fabric: t-shirts, hoodies, polo shirts, bags, cushions and blankets. It is ideal for colourful logos, photographs and smaller runs.

Digital printing handles full-colour designs and small runs without preparing screens. Screen printing pays off for large runs of simpler logos, delivering a lower unit price and very vivid colours. We will recommend the most suitable technique based on your design and quantity.

A vector file is best (.ai, .svg, .eps, .pdf with outlines) or a high-resolution raster image. If you only have a small logo, get in touch - we will advise or prepare it. Full details in the guide on how to prepare your logo.
