How to prepare your logo for printing and embroidery

To make your logo look great on a T-shirt, pen or towel, we need the right file. Here you will find out what format to send, what a vector file is and what to do if you do not have one to hand.

Send us your logo, we will be in touch
Rýchla odpoveď

For printing and embroidery it is best to send the logo in vector format (.ai, .eps, .svg or .pdf with curves) - it can be scaled to any size without loss of quality. If you only have a raster image (PNG, JPG), send it at the highest possible resolution; in most cases we will redraw the logo into curves for you. Along with the logo, send your brand colours (ideally Pantone), where to position it and which product you are interested in.

Formats

In what format should I send my logo?

Short answer: vector is best (.ai, .eps, .svg, .pdf with curves). Raster images are used after checking or redrawn. Overview:

FormátVhodnosťPoznámka
.ai, .epsIdealNative vector (Adobe Illustrator). The best source file for any technique.
.pdf (curves)IdealVector PDF with text converted to curves. A common and reliable format.
.svgIdealVector for web and print. We check that fonts are converted to curves.
.png (high resolution)After reviewUsable for simple printing if the resolution is large enough. May pixelate when enlarged.
.jpg, small .pngWe will redrawRaster image with background - we usually redraw the logo into curves before production.
Word, screenshot, photoNot suitablePlease send the original file from your designer instead. If you do not have one, get in touch - we will advise.
Explanation

What is a vector file and why do we need it?

A vector is a graphic made from curves instead of dots (pixels). It can therefore be scaled up or down to any size without any loss of sharpness - the logo looks equally crisp on a small pen and on the large back of a T-shirt. A raster image (photo, PNG, JPG) breaks into squares when enlarged, which is why vector format is ideal for printing and embroidery.

Where to get it

No logo in curves? Here is how to get one

In most cases a vector file can be tracked down, or we can prepare one for you.

From your designerThe creator of your logo almost always has the original in .ai or .eps. Simply ask for it.
From your brand guidelinesCompanies with a brand manual usually have the logo in all formats including vector and Pantone colours.
We redraw it for youNo vector? Send the best available version and we will convert the logo into production-ready curves.
Artwork checklist

What to send us along with the logo?

The more information we have at the start, the faster and more accurately we can prepare the design and price.

Logo fileHighest available quality, ideally vector. If you have multiple versions, send them all.
Brand coloursPantone codes or at least CMYK/RGB values. They ensure the logo colour matches exactly.
Where to position the logoYour idea of placement (chest, back, sleeve for apparel; surface area for products). We will advise.
Product, quantity and deadlineWhich item you are interested in, approximate quantity and when you need it.
What to watch out for

Common mistakes with artwork files

Avoid these to prevent delays - but if you run into any of them, we will advise and resolve it for you.

Low resolutionA small image from the web will fall apart when enlarged. For raster files, send the largest file available.
Fonts not converted to curvesIf text in the logo has not been converted to curves, a different font may appear on another computer.
Logo embedded in a documentA logo pasted into Word or PowerPoint is not a print-ready file. We need a standalone file.
JPG with backgroundA white or coloured background around the logo complicates printing. Vector or PNG with a transparent background is best.

Frequently asked questions about logo preparation

Formats, vector files, redrawing and visualisations - all in one place.

Vector format is best: .ai, .eps, .svg or .pdf with curves. A vector can be scaled to any size without loss of quality and is suitable for both printing and embroidery. If you only have a raster image (PNG, JPG), send it at the highest possible resolution.

No problem. Send the best available version of the logo and in most cases we will redraw it into curves ready for production. Minor adjustments and conversions are handled as part of order preparation; for complex redrawing from scratch we will agree the terms with you in advance.

A vector is a graphic made from curves (not dots like a photo), so it can be scaled up or down with no loss of sharpness whatsoever. This means the logo looks equally crisp on a small pen and on the large back of a T-shirt.
